Mind/Body Healing

Somatic Psychotherapy: Tending to Mind/Body/Spirit

I offer relational & parts oriented somatic psychotherapy, a mind/body interpersonal approach towards emotional and mental health. Somatics is an evidence based orientation that is especially supportive of healing developmental and shock trauma, as well as anxiety, dissociation, grief, and depression.

We hold a lot of unexpressed emotions, conflicting processes and trauma in our body, and finding ways to notice and work with them can help us create shifts and cultivate tools for day-to-day life.

Unlike traditional therapies, you will find the tools of connecting with your body, exploring your internal worlds, and finding healing in the present moment can generate long term changes in your entire constitution.

Using mindfulness, movement, parts work, and safe somatic touch, you can move forward in releasing old patterns, anxiety, stress, trauma and depression, cultivating a more fulfilling life.

Somatic Touch

I have an advanced certificate from Relational Somatic Healing, a somatic touch orientation that incorporates an understanding of neuroscience, poly-vagal, mindfulness and attachment theory with cranio-sacral and relational methods.

This form of somatic touch work happens on a massage table, fully clothed. It involves light holds and somatic inquiry. It is very helpful for nervous system regulation and healing developmental and shock trauma.

If touch is something that might be supportive of your process, we can discuss this. It is not necessary in order for therapy to work, but can be a healing addition.

Parts Informed

I incorporate Internal Family Systems and Ego States theory into my body based and therapeutic practices, as I find this way of understanding our internal system can reach and heal on a longer lasting level than I have found in other ways of working. These frameworks are based on the premise that we have multiple parts of ourselves inside, competing with each other, protecting us and defending our vulnerable parts that are often buried deep inside. Going slow, understanding, and allying ourselves with these previously unnoticed parts can help metabolize and integrate healing on a more deeply rooted and profound level.
